What Affects How Many Units You Need
The same area can require vastly different doses between patients. Here's why.
Gender
Men have larger, stronger facial muscles. They typically need 20-30% more units than women for the same area. Some men need 40+ units just for the forehead.
Muscle Strength
Stronger muscles need more Botox. If you can create very deep furrows when frowning, or if your lines are visible at rest, expect to need more units.
Treatment Area Size
A larger forehead needs more injection points. Wider-set eyes need more units for crow's feet. Your anatomy affects the total dose required.
Treatment Goals
Want subtle softening? Use fewer units. Want maximum wrinkle reduction? Use more. The "frozen" look comes from over-treatment, not Botox itself.
Treatment History
First-timers often start with lower doses. Regular Botox users may need the same or slightly less as muscles weaken over time. Some develop antibodies requiring higher doses.
Provider Technique
Injection depth, dilution ratio, and placement all affect results. An experienced injector might get better results with fewer units through optimal technique.
